I want to learn magic tricks, but why should I do card tricks? Aren't card tricks stupid and boring and take too long to do? All that piling up of cards and counting them out, isn't that lame? The answer to the second two questions: no, they don't have to be at all. But, I'd like to talk about the first question first...makes sense, eh? Some of the greatest "up close" magic in the world can be done with cards. I know people who devote their magical life to perfecting sleight of hand with cards. Well done card magic can simply fry your brain. Why? A big part of the reason is that most people are familiar with cards. They've played cards or watched the poker tournaments on TV. Cards are every day objects. You have to be careful because some people have heard of or seen "trick decks." Pick out three strong, "self-working" card tricks using a regular deck of cards.
